It’s Week 8 (already!) of our Be Your Own Boss course, and this week we were joined by two special guests. Nigel Greenwood, who set up a business mapping customer journeys and has developed software (Bubul) that acts as a business advisor and introduces clients to business advice, came to speak with our lovely group to offer his guidance and support about establishing a small business. Nigel delivered some brilliant advice, discussing the setbacks and successes of his own business journey, and reiterated the importance of having your business purpose and ideas reflect your own ethics and values.
In the second half of our session, Lesley Dutton from Virgin Money quickly visited to chat to our Be Your Own Boss SRG members about the Virgin Start Up scheme (a tool that can provide start-up businesses with mentoring, support and even funding). Lesley also provided our members with some top financial tips on setting up a small business and got us all excited about a showcasing business opportunity to be held in 2022! Thank you to both Nigel & Lesley for aiding today’s informative session.
Here at Trust Leeds, we are increasingly impressed with the determination and progression that we can see in each of our Be Your Own Boss SRG members. We see each week ideas becoming clearer and better outlined, the setting up of social media pages and websites, and SRG members networking and utilising each other’s encouragement and resources – and we couldn’t be prouder! Well done this week, Be Your Own Boss members!
Quote of the day: ‘When networking, don’t think of it as ‘selling yourself’…it is all about relationship-building’
