Chief Executive Liza Kellett shares Trust Leeds’ plan for lockdown.
Many of our Self-Reliant Group members face anxiety and isolation every day, so maintaining contact and purpose is crucial in this lockdown era. We’re thrilled that our SRG members continue to chat, support each other, learn, share and have fun together – over the phone, in zoom meetings or what’s app…we’re all improving our digital skills as quickly as we can!
Check-out of Facebook Page or Twitter to see what’s been going on.
What’s more, we’ve had good interest from others who were considering SRG membership, or have since found out about this wonderful movement which brings companionship, joy and new skills and confidence. So we’re promoting through networks, online and virtual ‘word of mouth’.
Trust Leeds helps people to set up their own Self-Reliant Groups by walking alongside them through a series of activities, workshops and exercises. Members do more for themselves, their families and their communities through undertaking enterprising projects… These groups become self-reliant financially and in terms of their leadership and direction – they are in charge! Yet they always have the experience, support and advice from Trust Leeds and their fellow SRG-ers across Leeds, across the UK and, indeed, across the world!
In these worrying times, we are bringing a new opportunity for people living with challenges to be part of something more. Please get in touch if you want to find out more or to support our work.
